Parkinson’s UK to raise awareness with new podcast for kids

Created for children aged six to 10 and their families, the latest episode of Armchair Adventures explores the condition in a friendly and imaginative way.

The podcast is a collaboration between creative arts organisation Made By Mortals and Parkinson’s UK, with the story co-created by people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Andy Smith, artistic director at Made By Mortals, said: “Armchair Adventures is all about turning real experiences into joyful, imaginative stories for families.

“Working with Parkinson’s UK and people living with Parkinson’s has helped us create something that feels both playful and truthful, helping children understand a complex condition in a way that’s accessible and reassuring.”

The three-part story, called A Planet Exercise Adventure!, follows the character Connie, her Nanna Debs, and a group of explorers as they travel to a musical, movement-filled world.

Inspired by Nanna Debs’ Parkinson’s diagnosis, the adventure teaches children about supporting loved ones and the importance of staying active.
