World of Swimming and XelaGroup launch school transport plan

World of Swimming, which operates across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Sussex, and is based in Hampshire, has teamed up with XelaGroup to remove transport barriers.

This initiative comes as summer holidays see families spending more time near open water, increasing the importance of water confidence and safety awareness.

Throughout the summer, a World of Swimming XelaGroup coach has been touring events and family destinations across the South, spreading the water safety message ahead of children returning to school.

Swimming and water safety are part of the National Curriculum for PE in England.

From September 2026, updated RSHE guidance will include water safety within wider personal safety learning.

Many schools cite transport as a major barrier to delivering this provision, a gap this partnership aims to fill.

The two companies plan to help over 900 children annually achieve their National Curriculum swimming lessons by providing a transport solution.

This will help more young people leaving primary school to swim confidently and stay safe in and around water.

Chris Rees, Founder and Director of World of Swimming, emphasised the importance of children having real water confidence and safety skills.

Philip Blair, Commercial Manager at XelaGroup, highlighted that cost and transport are the biggest barriers preventing schools from giving children access to swimming lessons.
