A sign reading ‘U.S. war crimes base’ with a symbol of a skull within a plane has been put up near to RAF Fairford in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds near the Oxfordshire border.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced on March 1 that the Government had authorised the use of the base for US defensive strikes on Iran.

This followed the beginning of the war on February 28 when America and Israel launched joint missile strikes on Iran.

The leader of the theocracy Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the initial strike with the middle eastern nation subsequently firing missiles at US bases in neighbouring countries.

A month since it began, US President Donald Trump has talked about negotiations although no ceasefire has yet been agreed.

Protests have been held over the past month outside the US-operated Cotswolds airbase against the bombing of Iran

Meanwhile, multiple military aircraft have been spotted taking off from the airbase.

This includes an American bomber which reportedly declared an emergency incident earlier this week.

The B‑52H Stratofortress was circling over the south coast at around 10,000ft before beginning a “controlled descent” on Tuesday morning (March 24).

The United States Air Force bomber is based at RAF Fairford and flight data indicates the crew transmitted a Squawk 7700 — the international signal for a general emergency — before turning north towards Gloucestershire.

But the jet landed safely at Fairford’s Runway 27 at 9.38am.
