Villa dubbed Oxford’s ‘most expensive home’ up for £8m sale
Summertown Villa, a Grade II listed Woodstock Road property that dates back to the 1830s, has been listed by Savills for £7.95 million.
The listing states: “Summertown Villa is a distinguished period house of elegant classical design, offering beautifully proportioned accommodation arranged over two principal floors.

“The property has been sensitively refurbished, combining original detailing with a refined contemporary finish.”
Screened by the high boundary brick walls, white pillars and big wooden fences, the house is hidden within two park-like gardens and is in walking distance of the city centre.

It is set over 6,671 sq ft and has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as particularly exceptional gardens, with a formal terrace leading onto the lawn.
There are other old homes in the area, but most have been divided up into flats for students or town houses for families.

Around six years ago, the home was called Oxford’s most expensive after it was listed for £10 million and featured in The Sunday Times’ hottest properties on the UK market.
However its price was dropped in 2019 to £8.75 million as agents Knight Frank sought a buyer.
Before that in 2005, it was featured as the ‘buy of the week’ for The Independent although the paper noted that it “needs a lot of hard work” at the time.
