Rick Stein issues heartfelt statement to fans

The TV chef, who was born in Churchill near Chipping Norton, recently featured in an episode of MasterChef Australia to kick off Around the World Week.

His rural Cotswolds upbringing and long‑standing reputation for classic, ingredient‑led cooking have made him a familiar name to food‑lovers.

The 79-year-old has featured in numerous TV shows and travelled the world, most notably in his Long Weekend BBC series across Europe and his cooking adventures in India, to name a few.

His recent appearance on the Australian series was a success with those living Down Under, with one saying on social media: “We enjoy seeing you on MasterChef, you give such positivity and warmth.”

Another added: “I watch everything you do. Big fan.”

Taking to Instagram to thank his fans, Mr Stein said: “Hello, I’d just like to thank everybody for sending in such lovely messages about my appearance on MasterChef last Sunday.

“I have to say I really enjoyed doing it. The contestants were all so interesting.

“And my special thanks to Poe, Andy, Sophia and Jean-Christophe and all the team. It was a really, really special day.”

Contestant Casper Kenworthy said on social media to Mr Stein: “Thank you for taking the time to pop in and share your wisdom with us all!

“Was a such an incredible experience and a day I won’t be forgetting any time soon.”

Fellow contestant Hannah Johnson added: “We loved having you in the kitchen. It was such an honour for us to be able to cook for you.”
