Eynsham Carnival was held for the 78th time on Saturday, July 4 and included a parade, stalls, a craft fair, arena acts, a fun fair and the famous Shirt Race.

Reputedly the second oldest pram race in the country (after Bampton), the Shirt Race sees groups in fancy dress traversing seven furlongs in a non-motorised vehicle.

One of those was in the style of the fire engine which the Eynsham Fire Station crew called “amazing”.

A spokesperson said: “Another great year at Eynsham carnival yesterday, thank you to all who came to see us when we finally made it to the field!

“Sorry we were unable to attend the parade due to being called out to multiple incidents which one delayed entry to the carnival, so thank you for your patience.

“We also had the privilege to meet these two ladies (sorry we didn’t catch your names) who created an amazing OFRS fire engine for the iconic Eynsham shirt race.”

Also at the event was Ali’s Tornado Chips who called the festival an “incredible day”.

The business said: “A huge thank you to everyone who visited Ali’s Tornado Chips today. The support, smiles, and kind words throughout the day meant the world to us.
