Oxfordshire school forced into month-long emergency closure

According to the Oxfordshire County Council website, St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School has been shut for the afternoons since Monday April 6.

Located at Radley Road in Abingdon, it is a voluntary aided Catholic school, provided by Portsmouth Diocese and maintained by Oxfordshire County Council.

It accepts around 30 new pupils a year into its reception class and has a staff of over 20 people.

The reason for the closure has not been given but it has been restricted to afternoons with the school shutting at 1.30pm and open as normal in the mornings.

Only published on the county council website on Tuesday, April 28, the school is scheduled to reopen fully on Thursday, May 7.

The school has been contacted for comment.
