Oxfordshire gains vital new asphalt plant to improve supply

Associated Asphalt Contracting Ltd has opened the facility in Yarnton, following an investment of more than £1 million, to strengthen asphalt supply across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties.

Located at Knightsbridge Farm, the plant was initially set up to support works on the M40 between Junctions 8 and 15 for National Highways.

After five months servicing that project, it will now serve contractors, developers, and local authorities across the region.

Chris Marchesi, technical manager at Associated Asphalt, said: “Having originally established the Oxford plant to support our delivery of the M40 maintenance programme, we’re pleased to now make that investment available to the wider market.

“With modern production technology and a strong focus on efficiency, the plant will help improve supply resilience in this vital catchment area while also providing a platform for future innovation, allowing us to continue developing lower-carbon approaches that benefit our customers and the wider industry.”

The site employs a team of six and operates a mix-to-order system, aiming for a 30-minute customer turnaround.

This is expected to help contractors reduce waiting times and improve productivity.

Oxfordshire currently has only two operational asphalt plants, meaning the new site will improve the availability of locally produced asphalt.

The plant is part of Associated Asphalt’s ongoing investment in its asphalt business.
