Oxford United loanee makes return after 10 months with Bristol City
De Keersmaecker joined Bristol City late on the summer transfer window deadline day on a loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy.
The Belgian had not played for Oxford since a 2-1 Championship away win at Leicester City on January 24, opting to have surgery on a shoulder injury which ruled him out for the remainder of last season.
He then did not feature for Aaron Ramsey’s side during pre-season or in the opening games of the 2026/27 campaign before departing for Ashton Gate.
After building up his fitness since joining the Robins, De Keersmaecker finally made his first competitive appearance in almost 10 months on Saturday.

Michael Skubala’s side drew 1-1 with Nathan Jones’ Charlton Athletic at The Valley, the 26-year-old coming into the side from the start.
According to Bristol Live, the Yellows’ loanee looked ‘comfortable’ in a double pivot in midfield showing quality with clever passes, skill and a well-timed sliding challenge.

De Keersmaecker started to tire and was withdrawn on the 65-minute mark on his return to competitive action.
The centre midfielder had appeared in a friendly against Premier League side Crystal Palace during the international break, marking to a non-competitive return to the pitch with a 2-0 win and 87-minute long feature.
He managed an assist in that game, finding the head of Reds teammate Luke McNally with a free kick delivery for the opening goal.
