Oxford United forward Ole Romeny leaves on loan to Sittard
Romeny returns to the Netherlands, the nation in which he was born, after joining from FC Utrecht in January 2025.
The Indonesia international scored once for the U’s in 32 total appearances.
He is the second player to leave Aaron Ramsey’s side in two days after striker Nik Prelec departed to join Polish side Jagiellonia Białystok on a permanent deal.
Oxford were hit with a temporary transfer ban on Thursday which means they are unable to register any new players, including loans and free agent signings, until the January window.
Upon joining Fortuna, Romeny said: “”From the first moment it felt good.
“The confidence that the club expressed in me immediately gave me a positive feeling and played an important role in my choice.
“I’m really looking forward to being on the field, playing matches and showing myself.
“As a striker, I want to be decisive for the team, so I’m going to do everything I can to score a lot of goals here and experience great successes together.”
The Dutch club’s technical director, Joris Mathijsen, added: “We had been working on the arrival of Ole for quite some time, but due to the processing of his work permit, it took longer before we could complete the transfer.
“Ole is an attacking reinforcement that I know well from a previous collaboration.
“Since then, he has continued to develop and gain experience at both national and international level.
“Moreover, he has become international of Indonesia.”
