The veteran forward departs the club having made over 150 appearances in blue and white, including winning a promotion to the National League with the Hoops.

A journeyman in English football, Parker arrived at the MGroup Stadium in 2022 and scored over 40 goals for the club before leaving ahead of the 2026/27 season.

He played 40 times in the league for City last term, scoring five goals and managing two assists as the side finished 17th in the National League North and avoided relegation by six points.

Parker has joined Farnborough who compete in the National League South in the sixth tier of English football, the same level as the Hoops.

Boro finished 19th in the league and 11 points from the relegation places.

In a statement on X, City said: “After four years and over 150 appearances for the Hoops, Josh Parker has left the club.

“We would like to thank Josh for his years of his service which included a promotion to the National League.

“We wish Josh all the best in the future.”

Supporters responded on social media, with one fan saying: “Club legend. Will always remember that goal in the playoff final and the header against Forest Green Rovers in the FA Trophy. All the best, Parks!”

Parker began his career in 2009 at Queens Park Rangers and has experience from divisions such as League One with Gillingham.

He was previously at Oxford United for a five-month spell where he played 15 times but failed to score a goal in the 2012/13 season.

After leaving the U’s, the 35-year-old spent a year and a half with Slovenian club Domzale before moving to Serbia to play for former European champions Red Star Belgrade.

The new Farnborough man then had spells at Gillingham, Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers, Burton Albion and Risborough Rangers before arriving at Oxford City.

Ross Jenkins’ Hoops are looking to kick on next year and have already made some strong signings such as former Northampton and Hashtag United star Scott Pollock, Bedford Town’s Ellis Brown and West Bromwich Albion youngster Evan Humphries.

The club also recently renewed its partnership with Oxford University with the historic institution remaining as City’s front-of-shirt sponsor.
