After the Hawkstone Farmers Choir won the Britain’s Got Talent final on Saturday, May 30, a number of people have taken to social media to express their unhappiness with the result, with one calling it the “death nail” for the show.

The group was initially set up by Mr Clarkson to lead an advertising campaign for his beer and cider brand, which is sold at his pub and many others.

Hawkstone is named after a Neolithic stone near his 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington and has featured on hit Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm.

Entirely made up of people connected with farming, the choir then entered the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent, making it all the way to the final, which they then won.

There were jubilant scenes following the victory, but not everyone was so happy, with some on social media expressing anger.

Cuz said: “Oh, the Tory farmer choir won? Put BGT out of its misery, please, the show is done.”

Yousaf said: “The state of this country allowing a choir full of Clarkson’s farmers to win Britain’s Got Talent. This might be the death nail for BGT.”

Mr Clarkson has now hit back at the outcry with a sweary response to one Instagram user who initially said: “They only won it because Jeremy was there.

“They wouldn’t have if he didn’t come and watch it.”

The 66-year-old TV star, who was in the crowd on Saturday night, simply responded: “Bull***t.”

Jeremy Clarkson will return to screens this week with the fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm, which releases on Wednesday (June 3).
