Former Canadian PM Justin Trudeau visits Oxford University
The 54-year-old, born in Ottawa, is the eldest son of another PM of the country, Pierre Trudeau, and Margaret Trudeau.
He worked as a teacher after studying literature at McGill University and education at the University of British Columbia before entering politics and winning the Papineau seat in Montréal in 2008.
Mr Trudeau later became leader of the Liberal Party in 2013 and served as Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister from 2015 to 2025.

The 54-year-old was in Oxford this week (Thursday, June 4) visiting the Blavatnik School of Government and speaking to Ngaire Woods.
Mr Trudeau reacted: “Had a day of insightful and thought-provoking conversations with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School on the future of democracy in a tech-driven world.
“Thank you to Dean Woods, to the Blavatnik students, and to the Canadian alumni I had the pleasure of speaking with.”
A statement from the Blavatnik School added: “We were delighted to welcome former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the school this week for a conversation with Dean Ngaire Woods and our MPP class, following a meeting with our Canadian students.”

Mr Trudeau is reportedly dating pop star Katy Perry, who is due to visit Oxfordshire this summer to headline Blenheim Palace Festival 2026.
Other big names on the Blenheim Palace Festival 2026 bill include Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, Teddy Swims and Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics show with The Essential Orchestra.
The concert series runs from 27 June to 4 July, with Pete Tong opening the run and Mr Bublé closing it, while Ms Morissette and Teddy Swims take headline slots in between alongside Ms Perry’s night in the Great Court.
