Cotwolds jewellers in Chipping Norton celebrating 50th year

Coles the Jewellers, established in 1976 on Chipping Norton High Street, was founded by Stuart and Anita Cole after they saw a gap in the market for a local jewellery shop.

Since 2003, the shop has been run by Stuart Hindley and Martyn Hanks, who have continued to grow the business while staying true to its community-focused roots.

Stuart Hindley said: “As an independent, family-run jeweller, we’ve had the privilege of serving generations of local families – often welcoming grandparents, parents and now grandchildren through our doors and have been part of people’s most important occasions.

“In an ever-changing High Street, we are incredibly proud to have remained a constant presence in the town for five decades, when so many of our competitors have closed over the years.”

Coles has adapted over the years by expanding its jewellery repair services and offering a curated selection of antique, vintage, and contemporary pieces.

The team also carries out watch repairs and battery replacements and frequently goes the extra mile for customers, including visits to the local care home.

Anniversary promotions will be running throughout July.

Stuart Hindley and Martyn Hanks, with more than 50 years of experience between them, are well-known faces in the community.

Mr Hanks said: “We want to say a massive thank you to our loyal customers and the Chipping Norton community for their support over the last 50 years—we look forward to serving them for many more to come.”
