The picturesque Burford has become a firm favourite destination for tourists for both day trips and staycations in recent years.

Close to Jeremy Clarkson’s Asthall pub, The Farmer’s Dog, as well as the Diddly Squat Farm Shop in Chadlington, many make the trip to the market town while in the area.

Dating back to the Doomsday Book, Burford sits on a hill with several businesses including shops, cafes and pubs all now open to locals and visitors.

Sitting on the River Windrush, the town is renowned for its medieval architecture, with honey-coloured limestone buildings lining its steep High Street.

As a sought-after destination, the Cotswolds spot, which has a population of around 1,400, sees its fair share of tourists travelling to the town in their cars.

This is expected to be the case once more this bank holiday weekend with a heatwave expected to hit the UK, with Oxfordshire potentially seeing temperatures rise above 30C.

With this in mind, tourists will be looking for a place to park while they go and explore the town dubbed the “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.

Visitors are in luck as the Oxfordshire County Council-managed car park, Guildenford, offers free parking in a central location.

Not only this, but the time allotted times at the Burford car park is a generous allowance of both four-hour and 10-hour stays.

This is within any given 24-hour period, while there is a one-hour no-return rule between 8am and 6pm.
