The Conservatives are the second largest party with 12 seats of out 48 on Cherwell District Council.

Edward Reeves, leader of the opposition, is asking residents to remember what they want from their council.

He said: “We have consistently heard that residents are frustrated by speculative development, yet the Liberal Democrats continue to push ahead while the local plan is sidelined; we want to change that.

“Across Cherwell, Conservatives are campaigning for infrastructure to come before new housing, making sure that roads, utilities, GP surgeries, dentists, and, crucially, existing communities, can cope with growth.

“Residents are also fed up with rising taxes while services fail to improve, and that is why we are committed to protecting fortnightly bin collections, which are currently at risk from 2027.

“The Liberal Democrats have had half a decade leading Oxfordshire County Council and two years leading Cherwell District Council. Delivery was and is their responsibility, and they have fallen short.

“Conservatives across Cherwell are campaigning for: protecting fortnightly bin collections, infrastructure before new developments, freezing brown bin charges, increased street cleaning in Banbury town, free peak-time parking to support local businesses

“Above all, Conservative candidates are committed to representing the people they serve, offering practical support and doing whatever they can to help, rather than simply saying, “I can’t help, you’ll need to speak to someone else.”

“Conservatives will stand up for you.”
