All Zero accounts closing with the app
There are currently more than 21,500 registered Zero app users, according to MSE .
All these customers have been contacted by Zero and told the next steps to take following the closure.
As the Zero Sustainable Money App is closing, this will also include all:
- Zero Personal Accounts
- Zero Debit Mastercards
- Planet Safe Savers
What to do if you have a Zero app account
Customers with a Zero Personal Account or a Planet Safe Saver are advised by MSE to “withdraw your funds as soon as possible”, ideally before March 31, when the app is due to close.
Zero Personal Account
MSE said Zero Personal Account holders should have received an email with further instructions.
The finance experts added: “However, these accounts were linked to and funded by an existing UK current account, so you should be able to withdraw your funds to that same account.
“You should still be able to withdraw funds after 31 March, but it’s best not to wait.”
You can also email zero@transactpay.com if you are experiencing any difficulties accessing funds.
MSE continued: “These are e-money accounts, so you can’t complete a current account switch to a new provider.
“Funds deposited in e-money accounts are NOT safeguarded by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).”
Zero Planet Safe Saver
Funds in Zero Planet Safe Saver accounts will need to be moved via the app to the user’s personal Account. From there, it can be withdrawn.

“Any deposits not moved by around 26 March will be transferred automatically into your Zero Personal Account.
“Cash held in the Planet Safe Saver is fully FSCS protected.”
