Witney skate park to reopen after temporary closure

The mini golf, kiosk, and skatepark at Courtside at the Hub in Witney was shut as landscaping and access improvements take place to support the near-complete The Leys.

Work began on February 23, with the last day of public access on February 22.

Improvements included new accessible paths, social seating, table tennis tables and planting.

These changes now better connect recreational areas to Courtside at the Hub and create a more welcoming environment along the main pathway.

Witney Town Council said: “The skate park at the Leys is open again, just in time for the have-a-go-day on Saturday, March 28.

“Activities include: football (Witney Vikings), woodworking (Against The Grain), amateur boxing, scootering tricks, boogie bounce (YouMove), hot chocolate provision (The Station) and much more.”

Thames Valley Police said: “These are partnership events, so whilst we are facilitating in the co-ordination of the events, they are not solely a policing event.

“They are named “Try It Day” where multiple organisations come together to encourage young people to try different activities such as football, boxing, woodwork and more.”
