Witney man ‘barricaded in home before trying to set fire’
Emergency services were called to Westfield Road in Witney on Monday afternoon after a man had been seen pushing a woman.
Once on scene, a man in his 30s locked himself inside a home in the cul-de-sac end of the road before also “threatening” police trying to diffuse the situation.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.21pm on March 16 to a report that a man had been seen pushing a woman on Westfield Road, Witney.

“Officers attended and the man barricaded himself inside an address. An attempt was made to set the property alight and threats were also made towards police on scene.
“We have arrested a 38-year-old man from Witney on suspicion of criminal damage and arson with intent to endanger life.
“He remains in police custody at the current time and our enquiries are ongoing today.”
