Witney broker survey on cost of living and happiness

The research, conducted by Witney-based insurance broker Howden, is part of its Nation of Frustration survey and found that more than 1,650 UK adults value kindness even amid mounting financial pressures.

Cost of living was ranked as the top frustration for 31 per cent of respondents, more than double the next highest issue.

Despite these challenges, four in 10 people rated their happiness at four out of five.

Mike Dalby, CEO of Consumer at Howden, said: “It’s clear that people are feeling the strain right now, but what’s encouraging from these results is that the little things still matter.

“The fact that random acts of kindness came out on top shows that, even in difficult times, people really value human connection.”

To ‘bring a little positivity to the high street,’ Howden is running its ‘Little Less to Worry About’ summer competition, giving away £500 each week through its network of high street branches.

The competition begins on July 13 and closes on September 20, offering 10 winners a share of £5,000.

A winner will visit the Abingdon branch at 3pm on Friday, August 14.

Mr Dalby said: “Over the summer, our teams will be out in their local areas doing just that – from handing out water bottles and ice creams to hosting family fun days, dog-friendly events and local networking sessions.”
