White House win top of the table Oxford Aunt Sally clash
Charlie Buckingham’s impressive 13 dolls for North Leigh couldn’t prevent defeat.
The White House won the opening leg with 25 dolls, just holding off North Leigh’s 24.
However, North Leigh hit back in the second leg, setting 25 and restricting The White House to 17.
The deciding leg saw The White House produce their best score of the night, a superb 27, helped by a maximum six from Roger Goodall.
North Leigh struggled to maintain momentum and only managed 20, handing The White House victory.
Masons Arms ‘A’ suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Blackbird, despite a strong performance from Chris Webb who hit 13 dolls.
Masons won the first leg 16-13, but Blackbird levelled the match in the second with an 18-17 win.
Blackbird sealed victory in the deciding leg, setting and winning 18-15, with Steve Buckle leading the scoring for Blackbird with 11 dolls.
Jolly Sportsman handed Littlemore British Legion their first defeat of the season in a 2-1 encounter.
Legion won the first leg, but a maximum six from Mark Hewitson in the second leg levelled the contest.
Sportsman set 24 in the deciding leg and Legion faltered late on, finishing one short on 23, giving Sportsman victory.
New Club ‘A’ secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 success away at struggling Black Horse ‘A’.
Luke Purcell top scored for New Club with 12 dolls.
Black Horse ‘B’ maintained their unbeaten start with a 2-1 victory away at Ampleforth Arms.
Despite needing three to win, Ampleforth’s anchor-man blobbed out, gifting Black Horse victory.
Donnington Club ‘A’ lead Section 2 after a 3-0 victory over their previously undefeated Club ‘C’ side.
Adam Baker hit 13 dolls for the losing side.
Catherine Wheel ‘A’ also remain unbeaten after battling back to secure a 2-1 victory away at New Club ‘B’.
Craig Hambridge was in superb form throughout, top scoring with 13 dolls.
In the sixers category, Mark Hewitson from Jolly Sportsman, Roger Goodall from The White House, and Charlie Buckingham from North Leigh FC all hit six dolls.
Top scores of 13 were achieved by Adam Baker (Donnington Club ‘C’), Craig Hambridge (Catherine Wheel ‘A’), Charlie Buckingham (North Leigh FC), and Chris Webb (Masons Arms ‘A’).
In the blobbing category, players from Red Lion Yarnton, Ampleforth ‘B’, Corner House, The Tandem, Vikings ‘C’, and Littlemore Rugby Club all failed to score.
