Developers Smiths And Sons (Bletchington) Ltd want to build the homes at Hardwick Farmyard at Hardwick near Witney.

The scheme, submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council, would have four two-bed, four three-bed and two four-bed homes.

It also includes parking, landscaping and vehicular access.

It would mean the existing agricultural buildings would be demolished.

No far no comments have been submitted by members of the public in support or objection.

In the scheme’s planning statement, it said: “This ‘windfall’ un-allocated development site offers a great opportunity to provide new housing in the district; and as demonstrated – this can be done without major compromise or harm to the village.

“The proposal demonstrates and facilitates a design-led approach that enables the key typologies and locally distinctive features of Hardwick to be fully incorporated into the scheme – whilst simultaneously ‘breathing new life’ and homes into this setting, and maintaining the historic, commercial aspects in the surrounding land.

“The Assessment notes that the proposed development will result in a low level of harm to the special interest of the Conservation Area through the loss of the distinct farmstead character of this part of the designated area, and through the intensification resulting from an increased number of dwellings within the hamlet.

“It concludes that there would be no harm to the significance of the Listed Buildings arising from changes to their setting. Overall, the harm identified falls within the less than substantial category.”
