The splash park at Manor Park Memorial Gardens in Wantage will remain closed for repairs for the foreseeable future, according to the Vale of White Horse District Council.

A ‘recent’ safety inspection discovered significant damage to the surfacing of the splash pad, according to the council, meaning ‘the area is currently not safe to use’.

“We know this will be disappointing, especially during the school holidays and with warmer weather expected.

“However, the safety of children and all visitors is our top priority, and we cannot open the facility until it is safe to do so.

“Work to repair the surface is being arranged as a priority, and we will reopen the splash pad as soon as it is safe and ready for use.”

Free splash park areas and outdoor pools have been reopening across the county this month at the start of the summer season.

The nearest facilities to Wantage while the splash park remains closed include Riverside Park and Pools in Wallingford, Didcot Splash Pad at Edmonds Park, and Abbey Meadows in Abingdon.
