Van seized by Oxfordshire police after rural fly-tipping
The force has said its rural crime team has been patrolling across the Thames Valley responding to incidents.
This included a report of fly-tipping on a country road which led to a van being seized, with the case now being handed to the Environment Agency.

A spokesperson said: “Officers from the Rural Crime Taskforce are patrolling across Thames Valley this weekend. They have responded to various incidents including a report of fly tipping.
“This vehicle was seen by members of the public dumping their contents on a rural road, before making off.

“The vehicle was located a short time later and has been seized under the environmental protection act 1990.
“The occupants will be dealt with by the Environment Agency for the offence.”
Fly-tipping has become a particular issue of concern in the UK with a number of monster fly-tips springing up.

This includes the huge rubbish dump at Kidlington near the A34 which is set to take months to be cleared with an estimated 20,000 tonnes of waste at the site.
Under recently-announced plans fly-tippers could be forced into “clean-up squads” to tidy up the mess in the areas where they have illegally dumped waste.
Councils would also be given new powers to seize money directly from fly-tippers to fund clean-up operations, the Environment Department said.
