UpSlide launches AI consistency check for PowerPoint

UpSlide has launched AI Consistency Check for PowerPoint, aimed at financial services firms reviewing client documents.

The tool scans presentations for contradictory information, mismatched figures across slides, and calculation errors in tables. It is designed for documents such as due diligence reports and pitchbooks, where reviewers often need to check that summary figures match the underlying analysis and that metrics remain consistent throughout a deck.

Financial advisory firms, investment banks, and asset managers face heavy scrutiny over the accuracy of client-facing material. In those settings, errors can damage client relationships and trigger extra rounds of internal review, especially when teams are working to tight deadlines.

UpSlide built the feature directly into PowerPoint rather than offering it as a separate application. Users can scan an entire presentation, review issues flagged by the software, and validate or correct them before sharing the document more widely within a firm or with clients.

The launch comes as financial services groups weigh the trade-off between the speed promised by generative AI and the risk of introducing errors into complex documents. Presentations used in deals, fundraising, and portfolio reporting often combine narrative, calculations, and heavily formatted tables, making them difficult to review manually and challenging for more general AI assistants.

UpSlide said the feature reduced review time by an average of 50% for a standard due diligence report. Internal testing also found that the tool identified significantly more errors than general-purpose AI products, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot, with some cases showing four times as many errors found in half the time.

Julien Villemonteix, Chief Executive Officer at UpSlide, said the launch reflects the company’s view on the balance between speed and precision in financial work.

“Speed matters in financial services, but accuracy matters more,” said Julien Villemonteix, Chief Executive Officer at UpSlide.

“Consistency Check helps teams catch errors that undermine credibility- inconsistent numbers, contradictory statements, or calculation mistakes – so they can focus their expertise where it adds the most value and helps them stand out in a crowded market: strategy, insight, and client advice. The sharp reduction in review time also gives busy client-facing professionals a further competitive advantage,” Villemonteix said.

Review pressure

Document review remains a repetitive but important part of work across investment banking, private equity, accounting, and asset management. Teams typically compare figures across executive summaries, valuation sections, and appendices, while also checking calculations in tables and charts. Those checks can become more burdensome as firms produce more material with the help of AI tools.

UpSlide said its broader aim is to support professionals within Microsoft 365 workflows rather than replace human decision-making. The company argues that review safeguards need to sit inside the software already used by bankers, advisers, and portfolio specialists if firms are to rely on them in day-to-day work.

Villemonteix said the release is about risk control as well as efficiency.

“AI should reduce risk, not introduce it,” he said.

“Our goal with Consistency Check is to help firms reduce manual work and keep standards high, ensuring that what reaches clients is accurate, consistent, and worthy of confidence,” Villemonteix said.

Client response

Early users from professional and financial services firms gave examples of how they expect the software to fit into existing review processes.

“At a minimum, Consistency Check should be run on every project twice: once before partner review and again before sending to clients,” said Bob van den Bor, Analyst at Deloitte.

Another user pointed to the tool’s value in basic verification of figures.

“Consistency Check was really helpful for double-checking that the numbers made sense – something that’s genuinely useful,” said Chad Liu, Analyst at BDA Partners.

A third client comment highlighted the system’s ability to detect differences in figures arising from different sources and calculation methods.

“Consistency Check flagged differences in reported cash levels, even though these stemmed from different sources and calculation methods (average vs. end weights). It is remarkable that the AI picked this up, even in data presented in image formats,” said Nadjlaa Zubri, Portfolio Specialist at Eastspring Investments.

UpSlide sells automation software for Microsoft 365 used by financial and professional services firms to manage document production and brand consistency. The company says it has worked in the sector for more than 14 years and lists clients including KPMG, UniCredit, BNP Paribas, and Rothschild & Co.
