Update after Oxfordshire arrests for ‘suspected drug deal’

Thames Valley Police has revealed that one man was given a caution for possession and another was released with no further action after an incident on Lancaster Crescent in Grove.

This occurred during the early hours of Thursday, July 23, with multiple police cars and officers seen on the residential street.

Police officers from the Wantage and Grove neighbourhood team and the incident and crime response attended the scene after a report was made of a “suspected drug deal”.

A spokesperson for the force said officers “responded quickly and swiftly detained two individuals”.

The report came from what police described as a “vigilant member of the public” who saw the incident in progress.

One man was found in possession of class A drugs and cannabis, and was then also found to be driving with a provisional licence.

As such, his car was seized.

The police spokesperson added: “This is another great example of why information from the public is so important.

“We can only act on what we know, and your reports help us tackle crime, remove drugs from our streets, and keep our communities safe.

“If you see something that doesn’t look right, please report it. Your information really does make a difference.”
