Uninsured Faringdon driver caught after lying to police

While on patrol along London Street, police constable Ashman and special constable Brooks noticed a car parked without a front registration plate.

The officers approached a man standing nearby to make enquiries, but he insisted the vehicle did not belong to him.

As checks were carried out, the man walked away from the scene. However, police soon confirmed he was in fact the registered keeper of the vehicle which was not insured.

Suspecting the man had left to avoid further questioning, officers headed towards a nearby address linked to him.

While on route, they spotted the same vehicle being driven, still without a front registration plate.

The car was promptly stopped, and the driver, identified as the registered keeper, was reported for driving without insurance. The vehicle was subsequently seized by police.

Thames Valley Police said the incident serves as a reminder to motorists about the importance of complying with road traffic laws.

In a Facebook post, Thames Valley Police South Oxon and Vale of White Horse said: “Moral of the story: don’t lie to the police, and don’t drive an uninsured vehicle because you have to get lucky every day we just need to get lucky once.”
