Companies House records show The Muddy Duck Pub Company Limited was struck off the register on Tuesday, May 5, following a voluntary strike‑off process.

The firm was associated with the Muddy Duck in Hethe near Bicester, which has been closed since 2023, but it is set to reopen on Friday, June 19.

Incorporated in September 2008, the company was registered at a Bicester address and classified under the “public houses and bars” category.

Official filings confirm that a final Gazette notice for voluntary strike‑off was issued before the dissolution.

The notice also confirmed that all charges registered against the company’s property or undertaking have since been released.

While that corporate entity has now been wound up, the Muddy Duck pub itself is preparing to relaunch later this month after being closed for around three years.

Updates on the pub’s website and social media channels state that it will reopen on Friday, June 19, trading from Friday to Sunday each week.

The caption on Instagram said: “The wait is over. From 19th June, The Muddy Duck will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“Don’t miss out – book your table now through the link in our bio.”

A longer statement on the pub’s website added: “The Muddy Duck is back and better than ever.

“In collaboration with our friends at The Smoking Lobster on the Isle of Wight, we’ve reimagined what a local pub can be.

“Expect incredible small plates and sharing dishes with a Japanese twist, an exceptional wine list, local beer on tap and an atmosphere that’s truly one of a kind.

“Whether you settle into our cosy pub, immerse yourself in the restaurant, or soak up the charm of our outdoor garden, every visit is crafted to create memories that last.”

Food will be served at lunchtimes and in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays, and a shorter service on Sundays.

Back in April 2023, The Muddy Duck announced it would temporarily close due to issues with staffing and recruitment.

A statement from the pub at the time said: “Due to ongoing, untenable issues with staffing and recruitment in the hospitality industry currently, we have made the sad and difficult decision to temporarily close The Muddy Duck.

“The premises will close as of this Friday, April 21. If you have an upcoming reservation with us, this will regrettably be cancelled, and you will be contacted shortly to this effect.

“Many thanks for your continued support. We’ll be back to communicate future plans very soon.”

This newspaper has approached The Muddy Duck team for comment and clarification on the dissolution.
