UK Private school introduces new change for students
The King’s School in Witney will introduce wraparound childcare starting from September 2026, aimed at Reception to Year 8 pupils.
Operating during term time, the independent school’s club will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and will run from 8am to 8.30am before school and from 3.30pm to 5.30pm after school.

Lynne Weber, principal at The King’s School, said: “We know that balancing family life and work commitments can be challenging, and many parents are looking for reliable and most importantly, fun, childcare beyond the traditional school day.
“While independent schools are not included in the Government’s wraparound childcare programme, we wanted to explore what we could do to support our own families.
“We are delighted to be launching this new provision and hope it will be a real blessing to parents and children alike.”

The club will be run by two newly appointed staff members. One brings experience from a local outdoor education centre, and the other has previously worked as a children’s pastor.
Their backgrounds include working with children in schools, churches, and community groups.
The school has said that if there is enough interest, it may consider expanding the club to every school day.
The King’s School describes this as a “significant step forward,” reinforcing its aim to meet the needs of families while staying true to its Christian ethos.
