UK private school announces new international headteacher

Christopher Bromham will become principal of d’Overbroeck’s, a day and boarding school for 11 to 18-year-olds, with his start date yet to be announced.

He will replace Patrick Horne, who has been principal since September 2024.

Mr Bromham brings more than two decades of leadership experience across high-performing schools in the UK and internationally, including roles in South Korea, Dubai and Spain.

He is currently principal of International College Spain in Madrid, part of the global Nord Anglia Education group, which operates more than 80 schools worldwide and is known for its focus on academic achievement and international curricula.

He said he is “delighted” to be joining a “vibrant and forward-thinking community” and highlighted his commitment to ensuring every student feels “known, valued, and inspired to achieve their best”.

He added that he is keen to build on d’Overbroeck’s reputation for personalised learning, strong arts provision and academic success.

Founded in 1977, d’Overbroeck’s has grown into one of Oxford’s best-known independent schools, with campuses across the city offering senior school, sixth form and international programmes.

The school consistently achieves strong A-level and GCSE results and attracts both UK and overseas students.

The appointment comes as the school continues to expand, with a new sixth form boarding house, Summerhill House on Banbury Road, set to open in September 2026 to accommodate growing demand.
