Two charged after Oxford incident with major police presence
Thames Valley Police confirmed this afternoon (Wednesday, March 25) that a man and a woman, both from Oxford, have been charged with public order offences after they were arrested on Tuesday, March 24.
It follows an incident in Bonn Square in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon which saw a significant police presence deployed to “give urgent assistance” to officers on the ground.

At the time, the police said: “This afternoon, officers attended an incident in Bonn Square, Queen Street.
“Urgent assistance was requested while detaining two wanted individuals who were failing to comply with officers. This resulted in a large police response.

“We can confirm that no injuries were sustained by officers or the individuals involved.”
George Geoghegan, of Cranmer Road, Oxford, was charged with one count of assault by beating and one count of a public order offence and remanded in custody today.
The 38-year-old is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Roisin McLaughlin, of Thame Road, Oxford, was charged with two counts of racially aggravated public order offences and released on police bail today.
The 35-year-old woman is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on May 27.
Thames Valley Police previously provided incorrect information to this newspaper that both individuals arrested in Bonn Square on Tuesday had been released with no further action.
