TV star praises Countryfile legend John Craven in honest admission

Known for presenting the BBC programme for 25 years, the 60-year-old lives on the Cotswolds Farm Park estate with his wife, Charlie.

He has also worked on BBC Radio 4’s ‘On Your Farm’ and ‘Farming Today’, becoming a well-known figurehead of the farming community over the years.

Mr Henson has worked closely alongside Mr Craven over the years, with the latter having presented the show for 37 years, starting in 1989.

Away from TV, Mr Craven lives in a village near Banbury with his wife, where the couple brought up two daughters.

Last week, Mr Henson made a heartfelt and honest admission about his long-running co-star whilst in Oxfordshire.

The 60-year-old was at the Cotswold Gate care home in Burford on Friday (June 5) for a talk about dogs.

During his presentation to the audience, Mr Henson spoke about Mr Craven and said that he “taught him everything he knows”, when speaking about his TV career.

In a recent interview with Farmers’ Guardian, Mr Craven also opened up, talking about the difficulties of filming in the early days of Countryfile.

He said: “In the very early days of Countryfile, it was very difficult to get cameras onto farms and to get farmers to speak to us.

“It took a long time to win farmers over and let them open the gates of the farm and let us in.”
