For those looking for the perfect spot to cool down with a crisp drink, Google reviewers have recommended a historic Oxford ‘hidden gem’.

Turf Tavern is a pub nestled against the medieval remains of Oxfords city walls.

Tucked away on the cobbled Bath Place in Oxford the Turf Tavern, part of Greene King, which dates back to 1831.

It is one of the perfect places to sit inside or outside, enjoying a fresh drink or one of the many food items on the menu.

More than 7,000 customers have rated the spot highly according to its staggering number of Google reviews and high4.5 star rating.

They note its “exceptional and authentic Oxford dining experience”, pointing to the serving of what has been called ‘the best fish and chips”.

The 12th century pub is also infamous as the place where former US President Bill Clinton ‘did not inhale’ marijuana, during his time at Oxford University.
