Thames Valley policeman denies death by dangerous driving

Pc Philip Duthie, 41, had allegedly been driving on the wrong side of the road at 60mph in a 40mph zone before he collided with pedestrian Kimberley Cameron on April 16 2021.

The Thames Valley Police officer’s view had also been obstructed by a van as Ms Cameron, 27, crossed the road, it is claimed.

The victim died at the scene of the crash on the A41 Bicester Road in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

At the time of the incident, Duthie had been responding to a report of a serious incident in his BMW car.

On Tuesday, Duthie, of Chappell Way in Leighton Buzzard, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing death by careless driving during a hearing at the Old Bailey.

Judge Simon Mayo KC set a timetable for the case with a further hearing on July 20 and a provisional two-week trial from January 5 2027.

The defendant was granted continued unconditional bail.

Duthie was charged following a reinvestigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
