Sainsbury’s update after Oxfordshire petrol station closure

The national supermarket chain said that its petrol station forecourt at its Banbury shop on Oxford Road was briefly closed this morning (Saturday, March 28).

This was reportedly due to a technical fault with the station open again as of this afternoon.

This Sainsbury’s update comes amid widespread concern about petrol prices as the Iran War continues and the globally important Strait of Hormuz remains closed.

Figures from the RAC show the average price for a litre of petrol has risen above 150p while diesel is more than 170p.

Petrol suppliers have rejected claims of profiteering from the crisis while seeking to assure the public that there remains a good availability of fuel grades.
