Red Arrows to fly along Cotswolds border this afternoon

With displays held across the UK throughout the summer, the iconic Red Arrows display team have cemented themselves into the country’s consciousness.

Thousands put their eyes to the sky to witness the red, white and blue smoke overhead when the red Hawk T1s fly over.

On Friday, May 29, the team went over RAF Brize Norton, the largest UK RAF base, as well as other parts of Oxfordshire including Enstone, Charlbury, Brize Norton and Faringdon.

After the flypast they went to conduct a display near Torbay before heading to the Midlands Air Festival on Saturday, May 30.

Today, Sunday, May 31, the team is conducting another display for the event held at Alcester before returning to team base RAF Waddingham in Lincolnshire.

During the flight the group will go along the northern Cotswolds border near Oxfordshire, including being just a few miles from Banbury and Chipping Norton, and next to The Cotswolds border.

This will be at around 6.50pm.

At 6.30pm they will be at the Midlands Air Festival after which the team will be near Evesham at 6.51pm, east of Ilmington at 6.52pm, west of Daventry at 6.56pm and south of Market Harborough at 6.58pm.

Between Evesham and Ilmington they will fly over Honeybourne and Mickleton, while between Ilmington and Daventry the aircraft will go over Kineton and Lower Radbourne.

From there they will return to base.

This comes after Air Vice-Marshal Mark Jackson announced earlier this year that the Red Arrows would fly with seven planes not nine.

He said: “This is simply to help us better manage the final few years of service for the team’s famous Hawk T1 aircraft, which have completed almost 4,000 spectacular public displays since 1980.”
