Police helicopter deployed in Wantage drug dealer search
Thames Valley Police said the most recent of three incidents disrupting county lines drug dealing in Wantage resulted in a police helicopter search for a fleeing offender.
The first incident occurred on April 10, when a 23-year-old man “posing as a food delivery rider” was arrested on Denchworth Road on suspicion of possession with intent to supply in the town.

Following that, a second arrest was made after man was caught “mid-drug deal” on Naldertown in Wantage.

A second, 22-year-old male from outside the are was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
On Sunday, April 12, another man was “sent to Wantage”, according to the police, and “intercepted” by officers.
When he fled on foot, a police helicopter was deployed to assist in the search, a spokesperson for the force said.

The man was not found but his vehicle, along with cash and “significant items” inside were seized by the force.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police Wantage and Grove Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Our recent survey told us loud and clear that our community wants us to focus o drug-related activity, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
“Three significant disruptions in three days, with a team of just two police constables and two police community support officers.
“A big thank you to our colleagues in Abingdon for their support with prisoners.”
