Police force entry and close Oxfordshire property after access denied

The incident occurred between Thursday, July 23, and Saturday, July 25, in Wantage, when Thames Valley Police officers were refused entry to a property.

It is said by the force that this property had unwanted people at the address, which led to a forced entry and an arrest.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police today said: “Over the past year we’ve shared a number of posts about Closure Orders, but what happens when someone breaches one?

“A closure order is granted by the court to protect vulnerable residents and the wider community by preventing unauthorised people from entering a property linked to serious anti-social behaviour or crime.

“On July 23, we secured another closure order for a property in Wantage.

“Just two days later, on July 25, we received reports of unwanted people at the address. Officers attended but weren’t allowed entry, cue forced entry.

“One unauthorised visitor was arrested for breaching the Closure Order.

“Closure Orders are not just words on paper; they are court orders, and we will not tolerate anyone who chooses to ignore them.

“Together, we’re protecting vulnerable people and making our communities safer.”
