Oxfordshire woman hit with large fine for not removing caravan
Daiene Ferreira failed to remove the dilapidated caravan from Howard Cornish Road in Marcham in June 2025.
Vale of White Horse District Council attempted to engage with the 41-year-old “numerous” times.
But after months of repeated warnings, the caravan remained in place, deteriorating and attracting continued complaints from nearby neighbours, the council said.

Enforcement officers issued several warning notices, followed by a £200 fixed penalty notice.
However, the money wasn’t paid and vehicle remained in place.
The case was therefore taken forward for prosecution and the council’s officers arranged for the caravan to be removed.
At Reading Magistrates’ Court on June 5, Ferreira, The Grove in Abingdon, was proven, in her absence, to have abandoned the vehicle – resulting in a £220 fine and £1,081 costs.
In Oxfordshire, caravans are often found abandoned by the side of the road.
In April, police recovered one in a layby along the Banbury Road near the Sturdy’s Castle country pub, north of Kidlington.
Before that in August, police officers reported finding an abandoned caravan in front of a farm’s grain store in a village near Wallingford.
And in Carterton last summer, following a traveller encampment on the pavilion land at Monahan Way, the group moved on but left behind a caravan and rubbish, prompting a site cleanup by the West Oxfordshire District Council.
