Oxfordshire venue seeking liquor licence from council

The Keep Spirits Company, located at 80-82 Broadway, has applied to South Oxfordshire District Council for a premises licence.

Under the application submitted by Robert McGregor and Samuel Smith, the venue is seeking to sell alcohol from noon, closing at 11pm on Mondays to Thursdays, midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10pm on Sundays.

The application also includes requests to play recorded and live music from 11pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Anyone wishing to make representations must contact the council by June 15.

Meanwhile, public rights of way in Oxfordshire have been modified.

Oxfordshire County Council has confirmed a change to the route of Little Wittenham Footpath No. 10.

The modification sees the alignment changed at the junction with Footpath No. 7.

Elsewhere, Oxford City Council has issued a public notice of its intention to grant a permanent deed of easement to Southern Electric Power Distribution PLC and its group companies.

The easement will allow the installation and ongoing maintenance of an underground electricity cable and associated apparatus in a designated 3m by 520m easement strip.

This affects a total area of approximately 1,560 square metres of public open space at King George’s Playing Field, off Botley Road, and Oatlands Road Recreation Ground, off Ferry Hinksey Road.

Objections or representations must be made in writing and addressed to the director of law, governance and strategy at Oxford City Council by 5pm on June 19.

In the same city, Oxfordshire County Council has confirmed a change to the cycle infrastructure on Botley Road.

From May 29, the mandatory cycle lane on the southern side of the A420 Botley Road, between numbers 174/172 and Alexandra Road, has been replaced by a wider advisory lane.

The change is detailed in a traffic regulation order, available at: letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk.

Separately, temporary road closures will be in place in Oxford city centre on June 28 for the Cancer Research UK Race for Life 10k and 5k events.

Affected roads include St Cross Road, South Parks Road, and Longwall Street (parking bays suspended from midnight), High Street (except buses and taxis), Queens Lane, New College Lane, and Catte Street.

Further restrictions will apply to Parks Road, including suspension of northbound traffic and parking bays, and to southbound traffic into Norham Gardens, which will be diverted via Bradmore Road.

Access to several other roads will be restricted or controlled, and alternative routes will be signposted.

Outside Oxford, several other temporary closures are planned.

In Grove, both Lime Tree Close and a section of the adjacent footpath will be closed for electrical maintenance works expected to last until mid-July.

In Abingdon, a section of footpath in Allder Close will be closed from June 19 to July 3 for electrical works.

In Wantage, resurfacing works on Byway Open to all Traffic No. 391/46/10, known locally as ‘the BOAT,’ between Charlton Village Road and Rutherford Road, have begun and will be carried out in stages over the next 6 months.

The route will only be closed while works are taking place, which are expected to take around 2–3 weeks in total.

In Letcombe Bassett, Bassett Lane will remain closed until June 17 for drainage and carriageway repairs.

Further afield, public notices have been issued regarding proposed changes to traffic orders and speed limits.

In Kingston Bagpuize, these are linked to the development of adjacent land for residential use and the construction of a new roundabout.
