Oxfordshire Fire Cadets help at Blenheim triathlon
Sixteen cadets, backed by four instructors, helped at the annual event as part of the service’s drive to give young people practical experience in the community.
The cadet programme is open to 12 to 17-year-olds and runs weekly at units in Bicester, Kidlington, Slade Park, Witney, Watlington and Banbury.
Parents and potential volunteers can find out more and register interest online via: https://tinyurl.com/yfr7v9k3.
Sessions cover firefighting skills such as ladder work, hose drills, pumping and rescue techniques, alongside first aid, teamwork and problem-solving.
Cadets can also work towards the Duke of Cornwall Award and take part in activities including camping, canoeing and bowling.
