Oxfordshire country pub gets new food hygiene score
The George at Upton in Reading Road, near Didcot, was visited by the Vale of White Horse District Council Environmental Health team on March 4.
Reporting issues with the management of food safety, the inspector on the day gave a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating to the pub.

However, two months later the pub has been given a second chance and has now received the maximum amount of five stars.
A statement issued on behalf of the pub said “Our owners and management take full responsibility for problems which arose during a short period when we had a number of senior staff changes, and we were updating our operating procedures, as the business developed.
“We have learned from our mistakes, and we certainly emerge a far more efficient and fully compliant operation as a result.
“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers, suppliers and friends who have been so supportive during these very difficult few weeks.”
