Oxford’s Unipart secures new deal with Transport for London

Cowley’s Unipart Group will deliver a preventative maintenance programme for points machines, which control rail switches and enable trains to move safely between tracks. The programme will roll out initially across seven machines.

However, the new contract expands the firm’s long-standing partnership with TfL and may present new opportunities for growth.

It comes as the business recently said it is considering closing its Cowley head office where around 500 people work.

Dr Dave McGorman, managing director of rail and technology at Unipart, said: “This is a fantastic example of The Unipart Way in action.

“We are actively supporting TfL’s move away from traditional, reactive repairs toward proactive, lean maintenance operations that fundamentally reduce asset downtime and boost network reliability.”

Unipart currently supports TfL in engineering design and manufacture, wholesale and distribution, and circular economy services.

This latest agreement builds on that foundation.

Mr Leigh said: “This agreement allows us to work closely with TfL to continuously drive operational efficiencies and improve performance, ultimately saving time, cost and carbon for London’s transport network.”
