The U’s will play seven different opponents in pre-season, with three in front of a crowd and four behind closed doors.

Liam Gilbert’s side are preparing for an ambitious season in the Women’s National League Southern Premier Division – the third tier of English women’s football – after finishing fourth last time out.

Since Gilbert arrived at the club in November, the Yellows lost just one game and have since made some impressive signings including the addition of 29-goal striker Sophie Quirk from AFC Bournemouth.

United’s pre-season schedule begins with a July 8 clash with fourth-tier side Maidenhead United before facing third tier side Peterborough United a week later on July 15.

Oxford then play Boldmere St Michaels of the fourth tier on August 9 to round out their three friendlies in front of spectators.

Four fixtures behind closed doors fill out the schedule with a clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers who were promoted to the WSL 2 last season.

A match with top tier side Crystal Palace will be the toughest test, with battles against Rugby Borough and Watford also being played without fans in attendance.

The U’s are keen to push for promotion next year under Gilbert with a return to the second tier of English football on the cards.
