The U’s have been relegated from the Championship and are in need of defensive reinforcement as they prepare for life back in League One after two season in the second tier.

Oxford have only two senior centre backs on their books in Michal Helik and Ciaron Brown, with 21-year-old James Golding having spent the second half of last term on loan at National League outfit Southend United.

With the summer window right around the corner, the Yellows are reportedly considering a move for Falkirk defender Henderson, according to the Daily Record.

United apparently face competition from League One rivals Plymouth Argyle, with both stepping up interest in the 29-year-old.

The Daily Record say that both the U’s and the Pilgrims have watched Henderson closely during the final few weeks of the Scottish Premier League season, with scouts impressed by his performances in Falkirk’s first season in the top flight.

The Edinburgh-born man played 42 times in all competitions for the Bairns, scoring once as the club finished in an impressive sixth place.

Oxford are also interested in Henderson’s Falkirk teammate Barney Stewart, according to the Daily Record, which is where their interest in Henderson has sparked from.
