Oxford United football shirt sets record for fastest-sold

The shirt was produced in collaboration with the University of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology to commemorate the opening of the museum’s exhibition, ‘In Bloom: How Plants Changed Our World.’

This limited-edition jersey outperformed the sales of Oxford United‘s 2025/26 home, away, and third shirts within the first day of release.

The design, inspired by the Ashmolean’s collection, incorporates an interpretation of ‘Study of Wild Rose,’ a piece by John Ruskin.

The shirt, marked with the Ashmolean Museum logo on the back, symbolises the connection between Oxfordshire’s sole professional football club and the UK’s first public museum.

It also features the Oxford Botanic Garden imagery, accentuating the link between sport, art, and storytelling.

With the shirt produced in limited numbers, fans are encouraged to purchase online while stocks last.

Once out of stock, there will be no reproductions.

The Ashmolean Museum, founded in 1683, is known for its extensive art and archaeology collections and plays a significant role in Oxford’s cultural scene.

The ‘In Bloom’ exhibition explores the journeys of some of Britain’s most well-known flowers, including roses, tulips, camellias, and peonies, exploring their impact on culture, science, and society.

Featuring over 100 artefacts and artworks, the exhibition highlights the cleverness of early plant explorers and the networks that shaped global trade.

The exhibition will continue to run until August 16, 2026.
