Only being beaten by London, the average price for a hotel room per night is £215, according to analysis by a consumer finance expert.

The research also found that a one-way ticket on Oxford’s public transport will cost approximately £3, while a 10km taxi journey costs around £24.

The expert said: “Despite having expensive accommodation and transport prices, Oxford does offer bottomless brunch for an average of £34 per person in line with some of the cheapest destinations in the ranking.

“You can expect to pay around £6.75 for a pint of beer in Oxford – the most expensive on the list. A supermarket bottle of wine will set you back an average of £8.30.”

Blackpool, Chester and Sheffield all top the list for the cheapest places to celebrate ahead of a wedding.

Joe Brunt, a consumer finance expert at Fast Loan UK, said that booking early, travelling off-peak or midweek and prioritising key activities would reduce costs.

He said: “There are now countless fun activities available for hen and stag parties, from go-karting and paintballing to bottomless brunches and brewery or distillery tours.

“Of course, cramming in lots of activities can quickly become expensive.

“Consider prioritising the most popular activities among guests to avoid overloading the itinerary and people’s spending.”
