Oxford – Plans submitted for garages to be replaced by three new flats

The scheme, proposed by applicant Ramzan Alyasa, includes two two-bedroom flats and one one-bedroom flat, along with bin and bike storage, and amenity space.

The proposed building would face onto Hertford Street.

A planning statement submitted with the application said: “The design presents as a two and a half storey property with 2 two and a half storey, pitched roof gables fronting on to Hertford Street and a two storey centralised entrance with a pitched roof, also fronting on to Hertford Street.

“Between the two pitched gables finished in slates, there is to be a large flat roof element which would be concealed from ground level view but would support a green roof providing bio diversity and rainwater run-off attenuation.”

The proposed development includes private balconies for the upper floor flats, each measuring 4.5 square metres and located at the rear overlooking commercial properties on Magdalen Street.

The planning statement added: “This project has been thoroughly researched tested and refined over the course of over two years and three Pre-Application Advice requests.

“We believe the scheme presents very well in the local context and meets stringent requirements both technical, environmental and aesthetic.”

No objections or supporting comments have been submitted to Oxford City Council.
