Oxford man arrested after ‘robbery’ at Tesco cash machine

Thames Valley Police said they would like to speak to a white man, aged 20 to 30 of slim build who they believe was the victim of a robbery.

They have released a photo of the man who is also said to be around 5 ft 9ins tall.

The theft at around 11.20pm on February 23 was reported by a witness who said that a group of four people demanded money from the victim and threatened him with an offensive weapon.

This was at the Tesco cash machine on Headington Road with cash taken.

A spokesperson for the police said: “At around 11.20pm on 23 February, a group of four people demanded money from the victim, who was using the Tesco cash machine on Headington Road, and threatened him with an offensive weapon.

“The offenders stole a quantity of cash but the victim was not injured.

“This was reported by a witness so we are yet to talk to the victim, who is described as a white man aged from 20-30, of slim build, and around 5ft 9ins tall.”

The force added that they had since arrested a 36-year-old man from Oxford on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in public.

He was released on police bail until 22 April.
