Oxford launches a new 24/7 emergency pet care service
Iffley Vets on Iffley Road has launched the new 24/7 service, offering care for pet emergencies.
The service is open to all pet owners in the area, not just existing clients of the practice.
Katharine Morrison, veterinary surgeon at Iffley Vets, said: “Emergencies are stressful and it is incredibly important that pet owners access care straight away.
“We hope that without the added stress of travelling to a vet practice out of town for emergency care, we will be able to help many pets and their owners in our local community.
“And we don’t want pet owners to put off seeking care due to unknown costs, so we offer a £99 consultation fee for emergency care.”
An emergency team will initially include three vets and three veterinary nurses.
The practice has handled around 200 emergency care requests over the past year.
There are also plans to open a dedicated emergency veterinary hospital in Oxford, and the practice has agreed a lease on a second local site.
Planning permission is currently being progressed, and once approved, the team will be able to confirm a timeline for the development.
Clients registered at Iffley Vets, including those at the Iffley Vets branch in Roman Road, Wheatley, who are part of the VIP Healthcare Plan, will receive 10 per cent off emergency fees.
Iffley Vets is part of the independent DNA Vetcare group, which operates 50 practices across the UK.
